Degree Conferral/Graduation

DePaul University awards degrees four times a year, at the end of each academic term (Autumn, Winter, Spring, and Summer).   Students must notify the University and their College of their intent to graduate.   This is done through the Degree Conferral Application Process.  A Degree Conferral Application is submitted online, in Campus Connection, once a student has completed his/her Junior Year and has earned a minimum of 132.0 quarter hours.

For more information on the Degree Conferral/Graduation process, please review the following FAQs:

Q: What is "Degree Conferral?"

Degree conferral is the process in which a student’s academic record is audited to make sure that they’ve completed all of the requirements necessary for their degree.  During this process both the College Office and Student Records make sure that all requirements have been met.  If they have, the degree is conferred (or granted).

Q: How do I apply for degree conferral?

To apply for degree conferral, you should  first meet with a Commerce Academic Advisor to identify your outstanding degree requirements. Once you have met with an Academic Advisor, then you should apply for Degree Conferral through Campus Connection.  To do this log into Campus Connection,  go under the ‘For Students’ tab,  and link into ‘Apply for Degree Conferral’.

Q: What are the deadlines for applying for conferral?

  • Autumn Quarter Graduation: Apply by October 1st
  • Winter Quarter Graduation: Apply by January 15th
  • Spring Quarter Graduation: Apply by February 1st
  • Summer Graduation: Apply by July 15th

Q: What is "Commencement?"

Commencement is the graduation ceremony.  There is one ceremony at the end of each Academic Year, in June.  Students who intend to participate in the Commencement must have a Degree Conferral Application on file, for the current Academic Year, and have a Cap & Gown reservation.  Students are not allowed to participate in the Commencement ceremony without a Cap & Gown.
