Academic Programs

Students majoring in the College of Commerce will complete both Liberal Studies and Commerce program requirements. This will be accomplished by taking courses offered by both the College of Commerce, the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, the College of Computer Science, Telecommunications and Information Systems, College of Communication, School of Music, School of New Learning, School of Education and The Theatre School.

Graduates of DePaul's College of Commerce Undergraduate Program will:

  • Be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Understand the business within a global context.
  • Be able to recognize the ethical and legal issues confronting them.
  • Be able to use analytical and reflective skills in making decisions.
  • Participate as effective team members.
  • Acquire knowledge of the functional areas of business and the interrelationship of the functional areas within a business.

Together, the Liberal Studies and Commerce components contribute to the common purpose of all study in the College, namely professional preparation grounded in liberal education.

Liberal Arts

Liberal Studies Requirements consist of courses to give you a strong educational foundation. Introductory Business Coursework is usually completed during your freshman and sophomore years and consists of business courses in mathematics, economics, accounting and business law.

Learning domains are general liberal arts focused courses. Advanced Business Coursework is usually completed during your junior year and encompasses more specialized and focused courses in marketing, management, finance and economics.

A minimum of 192 quarter hours is necessary for graduation. For complete details, see:
