Distance Learning
The Charles H. Kellstadt Graduate School of Business is committed to continue as well as expand its support for technology. A specialized type of technology called Course OnLine has been installed in the classrooms at each of the overseas locations where the MBA program is taught. This initiative involves automatic audio and video streaming of class sessions to a Web site with CDs available to students to reinforce instruction outside of the classroom even though the students at these locations are taught face-to-face (as world conditions allow). Course OnLine technology, Blackboard and offering CDs to students enhances the face-to-face instruction. In addition, a growing number of course sections taught at various auxiliary sites in the greater Chicago area provide a Distance Learning option for students unable to come to class and be taught on a face-to-face basis.

Course OnLine technology supplements instruction between class meetings. In addition to teaching students in a face-to-face format, students are able to view all class sessions via Course OnLine as well as notes and assignments placed on the Course OnLine website or Blackboard. Faculty members communicate with students by email and chat rooms in addition to the face-to-face meetings. For students who are now enrolling totally in a Distance Learning format, the technology enables them to achieve the same learning outcomes as if they had enrolled in a face-to-face course. All students are given CDs to further reinforce instruction. The College of Commerce works with DePaul University’s School of Computer Science, Telecommunications and Information Systems to support the Course OnLine capability as well as to produce the CDs.
